It is working as intended. When the switch is off, it will be off. When turned on and if power supply is present, it will glow with peak brightness. If supply fails, then it will automatically switch to internal battery and intensity will reduce by 50%. For normal size bathroom, this is OK but for larger room it may inadequate but is better than total darkness. As the internal circuit senses power impedance (which is why it won't switch on if the switch is off), it requires proper electrical wiring. I haven't find issues but some have. So you will have test at your place.

Its bigger than I expected and the 10w varient is very bright(when working in main supply). It's also adjustable in both horizontal and vertical directions so that we can point the light in any direction (almost 40°s to left,right,upward and dowards and it can be turn180°), in addition to this it's light is spreading to all Directions as well. It's light after the main supply get switched off is not so bright but it's ok for me; it might be for saving energy and to provide longer backup.

I have been using this for two years without any issues, its light up during power failures. I will recommend this to anyone who doesn't have other means of power backup facilities and living in places where power failures are common.

While bulb is in off condition Sometimes automatically gets on when power comes back, so have to switch it off otherwise it’s an useful emergency light.
